Before treating mental health conditions, I spent years learning how to care for the whole person.
I believe meaningful mental health care begins with understanding the whole person—their story, strengths, relationships, experiences, and goals.
My journey in healthcare began with more than a decade of caring for infants, children, adolescents, and their families as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Throughout my career, I have worked across primary care, urgent care, and school-based health settings, supporting children and families through a wide range of physical health, developmental, and emotional challenges. That primary care foundation shaped how I think about treatment in general: start by understanding the whole person and what's going on in their life, address what can be addressed through lifestyle, environment, and relationships, and reach for medication only when it's genuinely needed—not as a first step.
My experience in school-based healthcare has given me a unique perspective on the many factors that influence mental health, including family relationships, school environments, life transitions, and the challenges young people face while growing and developing. I have had the privilege of partnering with students, families, educators, and healthcare teams to support children and adolescents where they are.
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I now bring this foundation into psychiatric care for adolescents and adults. I combine my understanding of development, family systems, and whole-person health with evidence-based psychiatric assessment and treatment to provide thoughtful, individualized care.
I believe mental health treatment is not one-size-fits-all, and medication is rarely where we start. My primary care background kept me open to a broad range of approaches—not just conventional Western medicine, but lifestyle, behavioral, and complementary strategies as well. I take a collaborative approach, taking time to understand each person's experiences and goals while developing a treatment plan that may include education, therapeutic strategies, and lifestyle approaches first, with medication considered when it's the appropriate next step.
At Shoreline Support & Wellness, my goal is to create a supportive, respectful space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered as they navigate their mental health journey.
